In June 2020, HumanOptics reached a new milestone, the successful pre-launch of the CUSTOMFLEX^® ARTIFICIALIRIS in China.

During a web-based event, organized by our Chinese distributor Vistek Medical, 70  Chinese surgeons were trained on the application and characteristics of the CUSTOMFLEX^® ARTIFICIALIRIS by the prestigious expert Stephan Kaminski, MD (Augenklinik Zürich West & Auge und Laser Wien) and Ali Mougharbel, PhD, leader business unit ARTIFICIALIRIS of HumanOptics.

This was followed by the pre-launch of CUSTOMFLEX^® ARTIFICIALIRIS on June 28, 2020 and the first implantation of the unique iris implant in China by the leading ophthalmic surgeons, Prof. Chen Wei and Prof. Zhao Zhenquan. The large-scale pre-launch of the CUSTOMFLEX^® ARTIFICIALIRIS met with great interest.

To present the CUSTOMFLEX^® ARTIFICIALIRIS as one of four new innovative technologies in China, Ali Mougharbel, PhD, has been invited to a follow-up event by the company Rimonci Capital. On this occasion, around 1,700 attendees were informed about the versatile application possibilities and advantages of the CUSTOMFLEX^® ARTIFICIALIRIS. Even Prof. Dr. Gerd U. Auffarth (Universitätsklinikum Heidelberg, Germany) attended the event and confirmed the outstanding benefits of the CUSTOMFLEX^® ARTIFICIALIRIS as a solution for the treatment of aniridia patients.

The CUSTOMFLEX^® ARTIFICIALIRIS, a custom-made iris prosthesis, is an ideal treatment option for patients with complete and partial aniridia. The foldable iris implant provides both medical and aesthetic care. The iris prosthesis is modelled on the natural structure and personal colouring of the individual iris.
