Magnetic resonance imaging (abbreviated MRI) is considered as gold standard in medicine for visualization of internal organs and tissues. An MRI of the head makes early detection of tumors or strokes possible. The magnetic field strength during an MRI scan may affect implants regarding temperature increase, image artifacts and change in position.

Dear Patient,
All intraocular lenses of HumanOptics with or without blue light filter (made from acrylic, silicone or PMMA) are MR safe. This means that you can be safely scanned with this implant in a magnetic resonance tomography device.
Only one special model, the OCCLUSIVA (MS 714 black and MS 614 black), is MR unsafe due to its black pigmented optics. MRI scans of these models can lead to movement of the IOL and irritation of the surrounding tissue as well as image artifacts in the area of the IOL. Therefore, it is recommended that the patient sees the treating ophthalmologist after an MRI scan.
The iris implant, the ARTIFICIALIRIS, is classified as MR conditional. That means, if the ARTIFICIALIRIS is implanted in your eye, you can only be safely scanned in the magnetic resonance tomography machine under certain conditions. Please show your implant card before the MRI examination. Your doctor will then take the necessary safety precautions.
Further implants from HumanOptics, the MicroSil diaphragm, capsular tension rings and the Krumeich Cornea Ring are also classified as MR safe .
